I am a Focusing trainer and Certifying Coordinator, somatic therapist, and consultant based in Jerusalem, Israel.
In my life, whenever I’ve come across a healing modality that works for me, I’ve wanted to study it so that I might share it with others. I was introduced to Focusing in 1993 through a simple 5 minute exercise offered in a workshop unrelated to Focusing. The clarity and understanding I received with that one exercise led me, in 1994, to begin to study this amazing process in order to enrich my own life as well as the lives of the clients and students in my healing practice. I can honestly say that Focusing has changed my life in ways that I could never have imagined. Every aspect of my life has been positively influenced by this wonderful process – mind, body, heart, and spirit.
I have been actively involved in the field of health, healing, and personal growth since I was a teen with an avid interest and training in yoga, nutrition, and holistic health. After college, I served for two years as a Maternal/ Child Health educator with the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa, after which I returned to the US where I worked for nearly five years at the federal level on Program Development for the U.S. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.
In the early 80's, after becoming certified to teach yoga, and beginning teaching, I moved to California to earn Masters’ degrees in Social Work and Public Health. Following this I became involved in a variety of somatic therapies, becoming certified in Massage Therapy, Acupressure, and Focusing, as well as studying a variety of other modalities including cranial-sacral therapy, reflexology, and aromatherapy. Focusing was the last addition to my healing “tool kit.” Once I learned Focusing, I realized that this was what I’d been seeking, and since 2000, Focusing has been the main approach that I use in my work.
I received my primary Focusing Training with Ann Weiser Cornell, and supplementary training from a variety of other Focusing Trainers including Gene Gendlin. I have been offering private Focusing sessions since 1994, and teaching Focusing since 1995. I have been conducting phone sessions internationally since 2001, and teaching Focusing via telephone conference lines since 2005.
Often, people question whether telephone sessions and classes can possibly be effective. My experience, and that of my clients and students, is that in most cases, it is not only effective, but that results from phone sessions and classes can often exceed that experienced in in-person sessions. My sense is that the phone setting is more concentrated, with less distraction and inhibition. This provides the best of two of worlds: to be part of a supportive learning environment while at the same time, having the comfort and safety of your own environment.
I enjoy and have had consistently good results working with people in various life situations, including people in transition, people seeking better relationships, people struggling with physical challenges ranging from back pain to life-challenging conditions, and people dealing with a variety of issues related to business and their work lives. From my experience, any life situation can be enhanced through the Focusing process.
