I am a licensed psychotherapist, in private practice for 28 years, and a Focusing trainer. I have been trained by Ann Weiser Cornell and incorporate the Inner Relationship model into my work. In addition, I have had training with Janet Klein and Mary McGuire in Interactive Focusing, and most recently, have been working directly with Kevin McEvenue in experiencing and learning Wholebody Focusing.
Over many years, I have worked with a variety of issues and problem areas, specializing in anxiety, stress, addictions, depression and relational issues. I am very interested and excited by whole body processing in focusing as the whole person includes both inward felt sensing as well as outward expressiveness that activate energy and generate spontaneous, inner-directed movement. These movements are often the body’s implying of next steps and ways forward, and have been especially powerful in helping people work through ingrained, embodied habit patterns.
I received my Master’s degree in Counseling from Temple University (Philadelphia) and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Center for Psychological Studies (Albany, CA.). In addition to my therapy practice, I have been co-teaching phone seminars with Ann on The Theoretical Foundation of Focusing-oriented Psychotherapy. I offer individual sessions and workshops on Wholebody Focusing to therapists and Focusing trainers. I also have done extensive writing on Focusing and change-steps in therapy, recently written an article for publication on gestures in focusing and therapy.

Moving Forward: An Introduction to Wholebody Focusing (Level One)
Wholebody focusing integrates two interconnected ways of working with what comes from the body- focusing and authentic (inner-directed) movement. This workshop offers a new way of incorporating whole body processing into focusing and therapy. We will explore and experience how whole body focusing can be a remarkable avenue for activating energy toward healing and changing, especially in the form of inner-directed physical movement. Spontaneous movement, gestures and sensations can be physical expressions of the felt sense, as well as openings to the body’s implying of next steps and right ways forward. We learn to connect more deeply with ourselves in a whole body way as well as learn to trust in our bodily wisdom to move us toward health and growth.
In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of Wholebody Focusing. Some of the areas to be covered during the entire training series include:
- Awakening to body wisdom- recognizing spontaneous, inner-directed movement
- Grounding and presence- centering in the whole body; sense of one’s whole self
- Allowing physical/emotional expression- movement, posture, sensation, feelings
- Inviting a felt sense to emerge- recognizing and listening to whatever comes
- Holding both with equal regard- maintaining awareness both of Presence (whole) and whatever feelings/ movements/ postures (parts) are emerging.
- Unwinding/ reworking- connecting to the unfolding of the whole body process, including releasing of tension, inner shifts, undoing & changing of old patterns.
- Wholebody listening- how to be with and sensitively listen to yourself and others
These workshops are for anyone interested in healing and transforming through their body, and seeking a deeper bodily felt connection with yourself and others. It can be especially important to therapists and other helping professionals who want to integrate a whole body perspective into their work and lives.
