"Everyone
in the world should have the joy of learning Inner Relationship
Focusing!"
I have been in private practice 13 years as an acupressurist
and teacher of Acupressure and Jin Shin Jyutsu in San Francisco
and now make my home and office in Lawrence, Kansas. I have
been trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element
Theory, as well as therapeutic techniques including Focusing
to aid the release of emotional trauma from the body and to
discover the body's deep inner wisdom and organic integration.
I received my 1000 hour certification and teacher training
in acupressure from the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley,
and I am certified in Jin Shin Jyutsu as a Practioner and
Self-help Instructor by Jin Shin Jyutsu, Inc. in Scottsdale
Arizona.
My
Inner Relationship Focusing training has been under the guidance
of Ann Weiser Cornell and additional study with Jane Bell
and Barbara McGavin. In April of 2001 I became certified by
the Focusing Institute in Spring Valley, New York as a Focusing
Trainer. At the International Focusing Conference of 2002
I presented on "Focusing and Bodywork." For the
past 13 years I have been incorporating Focusing into my bodywork,
and for the last 6 years I have been enjoying the satisfaction
of individual sessions using Inner Relationship Focusing separately
as part of my private practice, as well.
Having been trained in Focusing before studying with Ann Weiser
Cornell, I have a special appreciation for the specificity
of Inner Relationship Focusing. The reason why I like Inner
Relationship Focusing is that I am passionate about holding
the space for people to be all that they are, to gain the
"radical acceptance of everything" that Ann teaches
so beautifully. Helping to empower people to gain a rich intimacy
with who they truly are is a greatly rewarding experience
for me. I believe all healing resides within the consciousness
of the individual, and Inner Relationship Focusing is a beautiful
way for the person to connect with themselves and their inner
life, therefore allowing the organic unfoldment of deeper
healing, whether it be spiritual, mental, emotional, or physical.
For the past 2 years I have been the Managing Editor of The
Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine: Research
on Paradigm, Practice and Paradigm. This is the leading
international, peer-reviewed, fully indexed scientific journal
for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
In addition to healing work, I also enjoy working with people
who are in a time of transtion and searching for greater clarity
on choices in their life.
